Calling all adventurous people!...read on…

Shadow.jpgResponse: I have to say that we were not quite sure about the response that we were going to get about the restructuring of the expedition. But I am excited to say that we have not received any e-mails of anyone who thought it wasn’t the right decision to make. The Earth Expedition’s e-mail box has been filled with encouragement from around the world as well as from our fantastic sponsors who help make this trek possible. If this is the first you have heard of the restructure then check out the Blog Archives.

Break: I am now in Canton, OH and won’t be leaving again until November 10th. The reason for the break is two-fold. While I am home I will be resting as well as traveling all over the country speaking about the Expedition and more importantly Blood:Water Mission. Check out “Speaking Engagements” below.

Recovery: The past two weeks have been more difficult than I thought they would be. Since I have been carrying 30 extra lbs on my back every day for the past half year I have walked differently in order to compensate for the weight on my back. To all of a sudden just take the pack off of my back is like losing 30 lbs over night. I have also gained the 13 lbs that I have lost over the past 6 months so now I am back to my original 165 lbs. My goal is to get up to 170 before I leave again in November.

Walking with me:
I will resume trekking November 10th from San Diego, California . My route will take me 3,000 miles across California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Back to Georgia where I started.(skipping FL on the pic) This will complete the first section of The Earth Expedition (5,500 miles). But when I reach Georgia, the prayer is that another passionate athlete will have already joined the Earth Expedition Team and will be prepared to carry our banner on his/her backpack over to Europe for a time and continue this story for Africa, until another picks up the burden and carries it as well to another country, and so on. The best way to describe it is to think of it somewhat like the carrying of the torch for the Olympic Games. If you are interested in walking with me (Daren) during the USA leg of the expedition then please contact me (Daren) . Also if you interested in the slightest about picking up the banner and walking for the Expedition and want more information then contact Amie.

Speaking Engagements Schedule: If you are interested in booking Daren for your organization you may contact Amie Hadaway and she will do her best to make it happen.

Katie_Spotz.jpgKatie Spotz: Yesterday I met with Katie Spotz from Cleveland, OH …. A fellow adventurer that shares that same passions that The Earth Expedition does when it comes to providing clean water to the world. Katie has pedaled across the US as well as swimming 325 miles of the Alleghany river (River Swim)  . In December of 2009 Katie will row across the Atlantic Ocean according to prevailing winds and currents. The journey will begin in Saint Louis, Senegal and end in Cayenne, French Guiana rowing at sea for 70-100 days on a twenty-four foot ocean rowboat. You can follow her at www.rowforwater.org
