Bon Voyage Party (Canton)

Hey Everyone, Things are good here in Canton, OH. Yesterday was great as Canton friends and family came to the Bon Voyage party that my Mom, Dad, Aunt, And Grandparents put together for my departure. It was a great time. I did a presentation at 4:00 and the response was great. I sold a ton of t-shirts…actually sold out of the male small and medium’s. The funny part of the night was after I spoke there was a line to sign the t-shirts…lol… who am I….   Well…  12 more days!   Much to do……Check out the pictures on the slide show. “Life to the Fullest” D

Two weeks until the rest of my life...

The table I am sitting at is a mess… It is filled with Larabars, power of attorney forms, books, tax junk, sunglasses, business cards, and an occasional cat or two just for fun. They enjoy walking in front of the screen when I am typing. I think those scurvy dogs know exactly what they are doing.Table.jpg

As a side note…It might be one of the weirdest feelings when at 26 years old to look over your living will... it is quite an eye-opener.

I don’t even know where to begin to update…I work on this machine of an expedition everyday for hours upon hours and still feel  like I am only making minimal progress.  Last night I was up til 2:00 writing e-mails to the newspapers and radio stations in the first couple of cities that I am going to be passing through. It is working little by little. I am optimistic though...

I ran into a little snag when it comes to non-profit status. It won’t stop the expedition but I am sure that it will mean a lot of reading and studying from the trail… You will hear more in the upcoming weeks..as usual it is complicated.

Right now I am leaving on March 8th from North Georgia College and State University. I am flying down to "Hot-lanta" GA. On March 5th and staying with good friends Chris and Marissa Dove. They are also going to be walking the first 3 ½ days of the expedition with me. It will be nothing but good times! Then I am on my own until I meet up with Josh Olson and his fiance'  "Trixie"  at the Fontana Dam at the beginning of the Great Smoky Mountains. We will then be out in the Wilderness for 10 days hiking the Smokies..

Does it get any better than this?     “Life to the Fullest” Daren

Things are good here in Canton, Ohio.  I left Wisconsin about a week then travelled to the Outdoor Retailer Show out in Salt Lake City, UT. From there I flew back to WI where I proceeded to drive to Indianapolis for a few days to speak and meet with friends and some members of The Earth Expedition Team. Then with everything I own in my Honda Civic (Green Bean) car with 190,000 miles on it crossed the finish line of Canton, Ohio where I will be until I leave in Early March. Here are some of Expedition Updates:

T-SHIRTS ARE IN!

Hey my friends, With the help of graphics arts designer in Romania we were able to get shirts made for the Expedition.  This of course will help get the word out as well as get me a couple months further into the expedition!  They are $18 (plus shipping) and are available in sizes small-xl. But quantities are limited so if you want one you can contact me at Daren@theearthexpedition.com. (We are in the process of getting them up on the Website)  Check in a week for the update!

We all love something for nothing. With Skype's free software - by the way, it works seamlessly with your internet connection - you can chat away with free Skype-to-Skype calls and never worry about cost, time or distance. So I wanted to share the love with all of my friends out there and extend the invitation to you. Skype will be one way that I will be keeping in contact with people from all over the world.  Go ahead and jump on that bandwagon. You know you want to.  My Skype User-Name is "Daren Wendell"

Outdoor Retailer:  Thanks to my friends over at Wisconsin Pharmical I was able to attend this year's Winter Market out in Salt Lake City. Outdoor Retailer is a monster trade show full of all kinds of crazy stuff from models, to naked cowboys...you had to be there...maybe it was better you weren't . None the less this is always a good time of networking with the Industry and finding potential sponsorships.  Here are some pics from the week.
